My first yoga experience was with an Eric Schiffmann and Ally McGraw DVD and I have been hooked every since! My regular yoga and meditation practice has helped me manage CPTSD and the lingering anxiety associated with it. Over the past 40 years, I have practiced several different styles of yoga, including Kripalu and Hot Yoga 26, but lean towards a more mindful, alignment based Vinyasa practice.
I am a 200 hr certified Vinyasa yoga instructor and received my training at Quest Yoga Arts in Mt. Kisco, NY 10 years ago. Since then, I have become certified in teaching Kids Yoga, Restorative and Chair Yoga. This past year, I received my certification to teach meditation.
I first introduced yoga in the workplace, while I was still a mid-level manager for a large insurance company. Our local office manager understood the benefits of bringing wellness programs into the work environment. This is where I developed the Wellness in the Workplace program and have been teaching in offices ever since.
In 2019, I was sought out to bring my yoga training to the local school district, which included four elementary schools. Here, I helped teachers create the framework to bring intentional mind-breaks into their classrooms. They learned that by combining breathing exercises with gentle movement, kids could regulate their own parasympathetic nervous systems. I also taught at a local parochial school, until COVID closed everything down.
COVID required us to pivot our holistic wellness practice and we now offer virtual class instruction as well. During the pandemic, I attended the Health Coach Institute, (remotely), where I received my certification in health and wellness coaching.
My mission is to create a safe and friendly environment, where everyone feels empowered to explore what their bodies are capable of. Through focusing on movement, meditation and the power of the breath, you can reach new levels of balance - personally, spiritually and emotionally.
